Filigree from the Sea 2

A quick update on my Filigree from the Sea post….

I think it is going to be way more impressive than I imagined.  I love the small circles that will be hidden on the back of the pendant  –  they will reflect the small while circles on the ceramic treasure I found by the sea last week.

Please contact us on sebacroatia@yahoo.com if you are interested in having your own treasure turned into a beautiful piece of jewellery.

Thanks for stopping by,

Ruth

Filigree from the Sea

I grew up beside the Otago Harbour and have always enjoyed ceramic treasures from the sea.  I love that each piece has a story;  Was it part of a favourite dinner set? how did it break? where did it start it’s journey to be washed up on whichever beach I am wondering on?

Yesterday I found this piece, robin egg blue with white spots blurring together, at the bottom of the steps that led down to the sea here in Korcula.  It is now sitting here on our working table here at Seba Dizajn and I look forward to seeing what Doka will create with it.

An experimental piece of seaside recycling, something new for the Seba collection.

What is your favourite piece of recycled jewellery?

What I learned from the NikkiP 30 Day Blogging Challenge

1. Never start to write your blog post without your second morning coffee –

 chocolate can help too!

I started the 30 Day Blogging Challenge with no idea about blogging & learnt so much from the daily challenges.  An email arrived daily with informative and easy to follow advice on ways to enhance blog posts and ideas for what to write about.

What I really learnt;

1. Use photos – people like pictures

2. Look in newspapers, magazines etc for inspiration on what to write about – why didn’t I think of that by myself?

3. Keep Writing – it gets easier

4. How to use tags in my blog posts.

5. To think about the search engine terms people might be using to try and find our Silver Filigree Jewellery from Croatia and use them in my blog.

5. That there is a vast amount of help and support available on-line.

I would recommend the 30 Day Blogging Challenge to anyone who is looking for motivation to get started on blogging,  some fun ways to liven up your blog posts and advice on attracting a wider audience to your blog.

Other Challenges include the 30 Day Facebook Challenge & 30 Day SEO Challenge – more information about Nikki’s challenges can be found here; http://www.30daychallenges.nikkipilkington.com/

Oh what the tweet have I done now?

Without much idea of how, what or why I have launched myself into the unknown tweeting world… have found some jewellery designers to follow which should be interesting – maybe I can learn some Twitter tricks from them?  Have posted my first ‘tweet’ and I still don’t know what I’m doing.

It’s a funny thing,  a very strange feeling that I can’t quite describe. I feel like such a fuddy duddy – especially using that expression! I feel like I am at the bottom of the class of Twitter 101 and I guess the only way is up from here.  Tomorrow’s mission is to dedicate some time to learning about how Twitter can help people find Seba Dizajn on-line and how I can share more of the fabulous filigree work that we are creating here in Korcula.   I can’t wait for the 30 Day Twitter Challenge, a la Nikki Pilkington, am thinking this is where I will learn the most.

In the mean time if you are ‘in the know’ and want to follow my progress into the tweeting world I have signed up as Ruth Seba @ SebaDizajn.  Would love to share the journey, it’s a lonely road when we travel alone…. come follow me.  I have chosen this beautiful filigree bead with coral details as our profile picture.

Remember if you would like to see the full Seba Dizajn collection you can find us on www.facebook.com/SebaDizajn where new content is being added daily.

Cheers, Ruth

Korcula stone inspired Filigree Pendant

Earlier this month I wrote about local inspiration for our filigree design here in Korcula.

This piece is a reflection of one of the many stone carvings here in Stari Grad.  We have blackened the finer filigree detailing to highlight the fine filigree work.

We are very happy with the result, would love to hear your feedback, what do you think? And where do you find your inspiration for your design work?  Please leave your comments below and remember you can find a lot more photographs of our work on our facebook page.
