Questions & Answers
On Thursday 28 July Seba Dizajn is hosting a questions and answers session – we can’t wait for this chance to interact with all of you….
What is it all about?
That’s a good question, it is all about finding out what you want from us;
What would you like to know about traditional filigree, modern adaptations of the filigree technique, the art and origins of filigree. You ask it and we will do our best to answer it.
Maybe you are curious as to where the inspiration to create such beautiful pieces of jewellery comes from – I know I often am.
It is endlessly fascinating to watch Adolf work, sometimes he sketches ideas on a page, sometimes he will ask for my input, often it appears he is in his own creative bubble and things appear from his creative stem.
Or, maybe your question is not related to filigree or jewellery at all – and that’s ok too.
Why the name Adolf? I know you’ve been dying to know, join our question and answer session and will share what we can with you. How did I fall for someone named Adolf – I know my Mum was a little concerned when I first started talking about him!
So, please, stop by our facebook page
(www.facebook.com/SebaDizajn) and join the fun.
If you do not have a facebook account leave your questions here and I will add them into our discussion panel on Thursday.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Cheers, Ruth
Goodbye Odd Ball
I am very happy to report that the ‘odd ball’ of my post earlier this week is now winging its way to Germany. Fantastic!
There is something very satisfying about sharing objects of beauty with people who really appreciate them. It is great that we have been able to find this small space, tear out the bar that was in here until mid April, find some stock and get our shop open in such a short space of time. I am really happy that we have managed to do this in Croatia as well, things take time here – all things! Polako, polako (slowly, slowly) is so commonly heard here, but I am yet to hear anyone uttering the word brzo (fast).
But, best of all must be our small jewellery table/workshop. It is fantastic to have Adolf creating jewellery again after a break – we were in Scotland for most of last year, a month in Nepal and then 3 months with our family and friends in New Zealand.
I love to watch as the tiny filigree pieces are twirled, twisted, fired and beaten into something wonderful. I constantly marvel at the patience and passion that is involved in creating each of the pieces that we have in our store.
We have had some wonderful customers & conversations this week. For me part of the appeal of a retail space is the chance for interacting with people from all over the world. I must be a people person, although friends will probably warn you to keep well away until I have had at least one morning coffee – maybe two.
It is great to share a snippet of the creation process with those that are interested. I love to see the awe in children’s faces if Adolf happens to be using fire to solder some pieces together. Most of all I love the chance to share my lovely husbands fantastic skill & his passion for filigree/creating.
How’s the weather?
hahaha, sunny all the time, loving it!
One of our facebook fans suggested that I write a blog about the weather, not sure if she was serious or not, but Rachel J this one’s for you!
After about 10 Scottish ‘summers’ I am so happy to be experiencing a summer!
I am living in my flip flops/jandals and loving that too. I am trying to swim in the sea everyday, it’s only 50m away so should be an achievable challenge. We are eating fresh fruit & lots of salads (not having a kitchen is doable in the summer months)
Would have to say, the weather’s GREAT – if you’re not convinced come on over! We would love to see you.
